The new twin-star DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps get Rose Gold accents, and buyers can add an illuminated hood star as an option, though that feature will come at a later date.

Under the hood, the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 uses an electrified twin-turbo V8 engine, the M 177 Evo, producing 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 53 hp and 89 lb-ft over the previous engine. A second-generation 48-volt mild-hybrid system, called ISG 2.0, adds up to 23 hp of boost and also handles coasting, energy recovery, and the engine’s start-stop function.

Steering has been revised too, with a more direct ratio for better precision. The suspension uses E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, which reads the road up to 1,000 times per second through five processors and more than 20 sensors, adjusting each wheel to reduce roll, pitch, and lift. In CURVE mode, the SUV leans into corners by up to three degrees to cut down on the side-to-side forces felt by passengers. The AIRMATIC air suspension keeps the vehicle level regardless of load, and a dedicated Off-Road program can raise and lower the suspension repeatedly to help free the SUV from sand or mud.

A More Refined Cabin

Comfort features also grow for 2027. The front seats add a new vibration massage program, and the rear Executive Seats gain a massage function that now reaches the calf rests, a first for the Maybach GLS. New Beech Brown and Macchiato Beige Nappa leather joins the colour options, along with two new trim finishes: an open-pore walnut brown wood with a fishbone pattern and a high-gloss silver and black metallic mixed fabric. Sound comes from the standard Burmester 3D Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos, now with two extra rear surround speakers and a more powerful 710-watt amplifier, bringing the total to 15 speakers throughout the cabin.

Driver Assistance Built In

The 2027 Maybach GLS 680 uses 10 exterior cameras and an expanded sensor suite, run by a new onboard computer, to support its driver assistance features. Buyers who add the optional MB.DRIVE ASSIST PLUS package get further assistance functions on top of the standard systems.

Two Digital Extras round out the parking and manoeuvring tools.
