Uncompromising Excellence: Meet the All-Electric 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The 2027 C-Class Electric is the first all-electric C-Class, arriving with a dual promise: the thrilling acceleration of a 482-hp sports sedan and the serene, long-distance comfort traditionally reserved for the S-Class. For Canadian luxury buyers, this is a vehicle that refuses to compromise between performance and refinement.

The electric C-Class is built on a purpose-designed EV architecture with an 800-volt electrical system, a 94 kWh battery, and dual permanently excited synchronous motors. It is rated at up to 762 km of range and can add 325 km of range in as little as 10 minutes at a DC fast charger. The result is a sedan that handles long highway drives across Quebec and Ontario without the range anxiety that has defined earlier electric vehicles.

The C 400 4MATIC Electric will compete with other electric luxury sedans in the midsize segment, including the BMW i4 and the Tesla Model S.

Performance That Reshapes the Nameplate

The C 400 4MATIC Electric delivers 482 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That makes it the most powerful C-Class ever built. The dual-motor setup places one motor on each axle, with a two-speed transmission on the rear motor to balance low-end acceleration with highway efficiency.

The optional AIRMATIC air suspension and 4.5-degree rear-axle steering give the electric C-Class a remarkably wide spread between its Comfort and Sport drive modes. The rear-axle steering reduces the turning circle to 36.7 feet, which makes tight parking maneuvers and urban driving far easier than the sedan's size would suggest.

Performance That Redefines the Nameplate

The C 400 4MATIC Electric produces 482 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque — enough to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.

Range and Charging Built for Real-World Use

The 94 kWh battery is paired with an 800-volt electrical architecture, which allows the C-Class to accept up to 330 kW of DC fast charging power. A 10-minute stop adds 325 km of range - enough to cover the distance from Laval to Quebec City with time to spare.

The electric C-Class is rated at up to 762 km of range under WLTP testing. That figure reflects a combination of aerodynamic efficiency, the multi-source heat pump, and a one-box braking system that can recover up to 300 kW of energy during deceleration.

The heat pump is particularly relevant for Canadian winters - it pulls heat from the battery, motors, and ambient air to warm the cabin without draining the battery as quickly as a traditional resistive heater.

The vehicle also includes a DC converter that allows it to charge at 400-volt stations, which are still more common than 800-volt infrastructure in many parts of Canada.

Interior Quality That Sets a New Benchmark

The wheelbase is 97 mm longer than the combustion-engine C-Class, which translates to 13 mm more front legroom and a more spacious feel throughout the cabin. The standard panoramic roof adds 23 mm of headroom in the front and 10 mm in the rear.

The optional MBUX Hyperscreen is a 39.1-inch smooth display that spans the entire dashboard. It uses matrix backlight technology with over 1,000 individual LEDs to adjust brightness in different zones, which keeps the driver's display clear without washing out the front passenger's screen.

The system runs on MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz's new operating system, which manages everything from infotainment to driver assistance and charging.

The MBUX Virtual Assistant now uses generative AI, which allows it to handle multi-turn conversations and remember context from earlier in the drive. Navigation with Electric Intelligence is included as a Digital Extra - it plans routes based on real-time charging station availability, battery state of charge, and traffic conditions.

The optional high-end seats include electro-pneumatic 4-way lumbar support, massage functions across the entire backrest, seat ventilation, and 4D sound integration with the available Burmester 4D Surround Sound System. The seats are designed for long-distance comfort, which aligns with the vehicle's 762 km range capability.

The electric C-Class also offers a third-party-certified vegan interior option. The optional SKY CONTROL panoramic roof includes 162 illuminated stars that take on the colour of the interior ambient lighting.

Design That Balances Elegance and Athleticism

The electric C-Class has a coupe-like silhouette with a low, flat front end, a sleek roofline, and a rounded rear design. The optional illuminated grille features 1,050 individual points of light, which create a distinctive light signature at night.

The front end sits lower than the combustion C-Class, which improves aerodynamics and gives the vehicle a more aggressive look. The C 400 4MATIC Electric adds a forward-leaning Star-pattern grille, flared side sills, and a diffuser-style rear valance.

The electric C-Class also includes a frunk in addition to the 16.6 cubic-foot trunk, which provides extra storage for charging cables, small bags, or items you want to keep separate from the main cargo area.

Technology and Safety Systems

The electric C-Class includes MB.DRIVE advanced driver and parking assistance systems. The system includes PRE-SAFE Impulse belt pretensioners, which tighten the seatbelts in the milliseconds before a collision to reduce forward movement. The vehicle can be equipped with up to 15 airbags.

The front windows use noise-insulating laminated safety glass as standard, which reduces wind and road noise. The aerodynamic design and extensive sound insulation throughout the cabin contribute to a remarkably quiet interior, even at highway speeds.

The MBUX Augmented Reality Head-Up Display is available as an option. It projects navigation instructions, speed limits, and other information onto the windshield in a way that appears to float over the road ahead.

The Electric C-Class Delivers on Both Promises

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric is a vehicle that refuses to choose between performance and comfort. The 482-hp dual-motor powertrain delivers sports-sedan acceleration, while the AIRMATIC suspension and rear-axle steering provide S-Class-level refinement on long drives.

The 762 km range and 800-volt charging architecture make it practical for Canadian highway travel, and the interior quality sets a new benchmark for the segment.

This is the first all-electric C-Class, and it offers a complete reimagining of what the nameplate can be.

Exploring the AI-Powered Cabin of the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS

Mercedes-Benz has spent the past decade building vehicles that think. The 2027 GLS takes that philosophy further than any full-size SUV before it - not with flashier screens or louder voice commands, but with a supercomputer that learns how you drive, what you need, and when you need it. The cabin is built around MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz's first true operating system, and it changes how the vehicle... Read more
